Why do this search?

This is not a search that would normally be a part of an employment background check. Uniform Commercial Code filings can point to loans taken by debtors and can identify creditors. This search could be considered when hiring high level personnel.

UCC filings are usually recorded when personal property (including business personal property) is used to secure loans, or on leases. UCC filings can be sources of information on banking relationships, lending institutions or creditors, and can lead to the location of assets, or can identify liabilities.
